Our Scripture reading today is Exodus 14:10, "And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD."
How could the children of Israel be so afraid so soon after leaving Egypt? How could they cry out to the LORD in this fashion? They made a choice to look at Pharaoh and his army and not keep their eyes on the LORD. The LORD had miraculously delivered them from the slavery in Egypt. He performed ten unusual plagues that would lead to their freedom. Within just a few days they were fearing Pharaoh and not trusting the LORD.
We, too, can find ourselves in the same predicament. Satan is so good at creating fear in our lives. He desires to use that fear to keep us from growing in grace and seeing God do even more miracles in our lives. We must keep our eyes of trust on the One Who delivered us from "Egypt". He is able!
