Our Scripture reading today is Philippians 2:14-17.
Verse 16, "Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain."
Two years ago today, Missionary Charles Wesco was shot and killed in Cameroon. His family had only been in Cameroon for less than two weeks. The Wescos and their eight children had travelled for over two years raising the needed financial and prayer support. The unsaved world would look at this as a waste of time and effort. According to the Apostle Paul this was not in vain. This family was holding forth the word of life while they were on deputation and the short time they lived in Cameroon. Earlier this morning, Stephanie (his wife) wrote, "Charles was willing to make himself a living sacrifice to the Lord. Long before Cameroon, he had chosen to follow Jesus, with no turning back. God chose that Charles would bring more glory to him only being a missionary to Cameroon for 12 short days. But because of his martyrdom, God made Charles a missionary and testimony to glorify Himself to the whole world."
My prayer is to glorify God with every day He gives me. The only way this can be accomplished is through FULL surrender. I wonder, have you decided to follow Jesus?
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
No turning back, no turning back.
