Our Scripture reading today is Luke 20:12-14.
 
Verse 14, "But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours."
 
There is some foretelling by the Lord Jesus in this parable.  He absolutely knew what was coming in His life and how His physical life would end.  What a foolish decision by these husbandman and what a foolish decision it is today to reject the Son of God.  Their heart was so depraved that they believed it was ok to kill someone in order that they might be benefited by that killing.  Jesus was speaking to the heart of the people who He knew would be or already had rejected Him as the Messiah.
 
Those who die having rejected God's gift of eternal life will have no other opportunity to be forgiven.  By rejecting the provision God made through the sacrifice of His Son, they will forever be punished in the lake of fire.  Conversely, those who receive God's Son as their Saviour, will be in the presence of God in Heaven for all eternity.  The sins they committed are all under the blood of Jesus Christ.
