Our Scripture reading today is Acts 16:14-15.
Verse 15, "And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us."
The first converts in Philippi were Lydia, the seller of purple, and her family. What a day of rejoicing that would have been.  This was only the beginning of all that God would do through the church started in Philippi.
Lydia's statement to the disciples is what grabbed my attention.  "If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord..."  This is what every child of God should be striving for every day.  We may never preach a sermon in church, but we can be faithful to serve in our local church.  We may never travel to a foreign land as a missionary, but we can be faithful to pray for and give to the missions program.
Our faithfulness is to be directed to Jesus Christ.  He is our example to follow.  Psalm 119:90, "Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth."  If there was one character quality to be guilty of, faithfulness should be at the top of the list.
