Our Scripture reading today is Luke 12:1-3.
Verse 2, "For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known."
The warning in the opening verses of Luke 12 is to avoid being an hypocrite. The hypocrite attempts to be a master at concealment. There is much time and effort making people think something about him or her that is not really true. They conceal who they really are. There are no hypocrites in God's eyes, because He sees through the concealment. Sadly, I can think of several people in my life who were Godly influences, but at the same time were concealing sin in their life. The concealment only lasted for a certain amount of time and everything was made known. The saddest part about this is the reproach it causes to the name of Jesus Christ.
I am in no way above being an hypocrite. It is something that most people have a little bit in them. We need to remain real and humble before our God and those whom we influence. We must not portray to be something that we are not truly living or even worse, are living quite the opposite. If you are concealing some sin, there is not better time than the present to get right with God and your fellow man.
