Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 23:12, "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."
We have a choice to make when it comes to be abased or exalted. Our world is filled with people who practice self-exaltation. The quicker they lift themselves up the better. This plan is not a biblical plan. Jesus Christ said the opposite (humility) is the way to being exalted. This exaltation may not come until eternity. The follower of Jesus Christ should not concerned about being lifted up now. Later in the New Testament (1 Peter 5:5), we are promised grace if we are humble. I need all of God's grace I can get and I am sure most of us would say the same thing.
