Our Scripture reading today is 2 Timothy 4:2, "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."
There is no doubt that the preaching and teaching of God's Word is of the utmost importance. The instructions given in this verse are from the Apostle Paul to his son in the faith, Timothy. Paul's days were numbered and he wanted Timothy to know what he should continue to do and he should do it. The last word of this verse carries with it a load of importance. We are to faithfully proclaim Bible doctrine. Our lives will bring God more glory if we are able to explain why we believe what we believe.
Paul was training and discipling Timothy right up until the end of Paul's life. We should learn from Paul's example. Who are we teaching what we have been taught or learned? Who are we mentoring with the Word of God?
