Our Scripture reading today is Joshua 1:9, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."

We can be strong and of good courage because God is with us.  The promise in Joshua's day is just as true in our day.  As children of God, we are never alone!  The presence of God in our lives is what keeps us calm in the midst of a storm. He does not always calm the storm, but He is always with us in the storm.

As we face certain battles, we can be assured of victory every time.  Jeremiah 1:19, "And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee."  As we face certain projects or tasks, we can be assured that God is there to carry us through.  1 Chronicles 28:20, "And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD."
