Much Is Required

Our Scripture reading today is Luke 12:47-48.

Verse 48b, "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more."

There have been numerous times through the years that I can remember saying something like, "We have been given so much".  This statement can and does refer to material as well as spiritual things.  Our eyes quickly tell us that in Canada we have been given much.  We are a wealthy nation.  Our heart should tell us that in Canada we have been given so much light.  The light I am referring to is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We have access to much truth!  

According to our text this morning, Canada is going to be required much on the day of judgement.  Now, I do realize, the judgement is personal, but we do read in Psalm 9:17, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the NATIONS that forget God."  May God have mercy on our country. 

I would like to encourage us today as individuals.  What have you been given from the Lord?  Are you using what God has given you to bring Him more or less glory?  I say, for the most part, we have all been given much.
